“Quality professional proofreading for businesses and individuals”

Prices

My standard rate is £26.00 per hour.

For students, I charge £22.00 per hour.

For smaller jobs I charge a flat fee, dependent on the actual size. For example, a standard-sized business card would be charged at only £6.50!

For larger commercial jobs, I am happy to work to a rate per thousand words.

I am also prepared to travel for commercial clients, if there is sufficient work for this to be mutually economically viable.

I have worked for long enough as a proofreader to know that almost all jobs are urgent, and that some jobs are moderately-, extremely-, or unbelievably-urgent! That's why I am ready to work outside standard business hours to accommodate those looming deadlines, whenever I'm able to.

As jobs can vary from very simple to very complex, I am also prepared to be flexible on my rates, so please phone, text or e-mail and I'll happily discuss your requirements.

How I work

I can accept Microsoft Word files or Adobe PDF files via e-mail, or hard copy by post.

When you contact me, either send a sample or the whole job for me to analyse, or a word count, or a description of the work if you feel that's adequate. I also need to know when you require the work to be completed by.

If you are going to provide me with copy to compare with, I can perform a comparison in any language which uses the Roman alphabet. I will need extra time to do this, however.

I will provide you with a price, and a completion date/time. If these are suitable for you, you can send the job either via e-mail, or through the post. We will agree terms of payment before I begin the work.

Payment may be made by direct bank payment, for which I will provide the details to you at the time, or by cheque (which must then be cleared before I start).

If you e-mail a Word Document to me, I will mark it using track changes, and when finished I will create a second file with the changes combined, to give you a finished document. These will then be returned to you via e-mail.

If you e-mail me an Adobe PDF file, I will mark it using the Comments facility, and then return it to you via e-mail.

If you post hard copy to me, I will mark it using the British Standard Proofreading Symbols(BS 5261) before posting it back to you.
